The Social

Brisbane Cbd

The Social is Ibis Styles Brisbane hotel’s playful restaurant and bar, a colourful hidden gem situated upstairs behind the historic preserved façade of the old Queensland Ballet school.

Not just open to hotel guests, The Social makes a great casual dining alternative to the crowd-infested mall eateries and just happens to be conveniently located just around the corner from the Queen Street mall.

Decked out in cheery primary colours and offering a handful of table games on the side, the restaurant has appeal to kids and adults alike.

On the eclectic menu for starters/snacks are Peri Peri Chicken Strips, Chinese Pork Buns, Onion Rings and Dips or Bruschetta Bites.

To share there’s Spring Rolls with house-made dipping sauce or Grilled Dumplings, while main dishes include the Ibis Styles Mega Dog (traditional grilled US hot dog with melted cheese, pickles and cress), Big Bold Burger (beef, grilled chicken, vegetable cake or bacon), a 7 inch Classic Pizza, Quick Bite Pasta Bowls such as the popular Prawn Linguine, as well as Hokkein Mee, Battered Fish, Tofu Stir Fry, Sesame Ginger Salmon or 200g Beef (Sirloin, Rump or Medallion).

Desserts here also add some child-like fun to the menu – think Deep Fried Mars Bar Sundae, Dave’s Ice-cream Sambo or the recommended Big Banana Split.

Drinks-wise, for adults there’s a range of international and craft beers and cider, while the selection of wines includes drops from regions of Tas, WA, NSW and SA, along with a touch of international such as Italian Bandini Prosecco and Spanish Zino Tempranillo Red.

For both kidults and children though, a must try are the Mash-In Milkshakes – a create-your-own experience using ice-cream as a base and adding pretzels, cookie dough, Anzacs or jelly babies with a choice of chocolate, strawberry or caramel sauce.

Need to know – Entry is via the funky hotel foyer – take the lift to the first floor.
