Join the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra for an afternoon of inspiring classical music in the majestic surrounds of Brisbane City Hall, as they celebrate their 10th anniversary, on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

With over 40 musicians on stage, this symphonic program opens in the magical world of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Mendelssohn’s enchanting overture, full of scampering fairy feet and sparkling strings.

The program ends in the brooding landscapes of Scotland with Mendelssohn’s ‘Scottish’ Symphony, inspired by his travels there as a young man – a hugely evocative and dramatic work.

In between, the orchestra conducted by Rachael Beesley, will take a journey of a different kind, plumbing the depths of the symphony in Beethoven’s Eighth. This remarkable work confounds expectations and surprises at every turn, yet is full of toe-tapping melodies.

Felix Mendelssohn Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Op.21 (1826)
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No.8 in F major, Op.93 (1812)
Felix Mendelssohn Symphony No.3 in A minor, Op.56 Scottish (1843 version)

Join the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra for this inspiring program as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.
