The Fourth Monkey Cocktail Bar
West End
Updated: Feb 10, 2026
The Fourth Monkey is a funky, Caribbean-inspired tiki bar rum bar and grill nestled on the border of West End and South Brisbane.
Located across from West Village on Mollison Street, the cool dog-friendly bar occupies the old cottage where the long-standing Three Monkeys Coffee House once was.
Inside the dimly-lit drinking den, you'll find a tiki bar stocked with premium spirits where you can whet your whistle with frozen margaritas crafted with house made syrups and signature cocktails like El Draque (Dead Man's spiced rum, lime, mint, brown sugar and soda), Monkey's Tail (Dead Man's coconut and spiced rum, triple sec, banana liqueur, orgeat syrup and lime), or Speak No Evil - Whitley Neill dry gin, green chartreuse liqueur, lime, passionfruit smoke and boozy cherry.
There's also a wine bar with a curated selection of wines ranging from crisp Australian Sauvignon Blancs to rich Victorian Shiraz. Beyond the bar, is a crimson curtain-clad lounge with leather couches, little rattan tables, and potted palms where patrons can settle in for an afternoon or evening session.
This room flows through what remains largely unchanged - a section of the venue preserved to pay homage to the iconic Three Monkeys cafe that operated for over 30 years - with leadlight lampshades, Persian rugs and red vinyl banquette seating, to a spacious, dog-friendly, fairy-lit, garden oasis.
For more intimate gatherings, The Fourth Monkey has two adjoining private function rooms which can be booked individually or together. One is French-inspired with chic wallpaper and a chandelier while the other is vintage English with leather couches and a record player. Both private spaces are hidden away, entered through a cupboard door.
Foodwise, it's hard to go past the signature "Smuggler’s Feast”– fire-cooked dry-aged T-bone, rib fillet, spiced chicken, pork belly, squid balls, fries, sauces and more. There’s also a selection of hot starters such as their delicious Lobster Bisque and seasonal specials like their flame-cooked Summer Skewers.
