Apt8 Live

Qagoma

Art comes to life, literally, in the very first ever APT Live events at QAG and GOMA, held monthly on Sundays until April.

A collaboration between the Gallery’s Public Programs and Curatorial teams, APT8 Live will see art taken off the four walls of the gallery and presented through an ongoing program of live artist performances, workshops, talks and panel discussions.

APT8 Live, which promises to breathe a whole new life into the amazing APT8 exhibition, offers a unique way for audiences to experience aspects of work from Asia and the Pacific via the live performances.

APT8 Live

Highlights of the program include Anida Yoeu Ali’s The Buddhist Bug 2015 and Hetain Patel’s Be Movie 2.0 2014–15 performance lecture on the Opening Weekend, as well as Justin Shoulder and Bhenji Ra’s mythical creatures in Ex Nilalang: Incarnations 2015-16 which returns on the closing weekend of APT8.

As well as the live performances, each month will feature a performance-focussed discussion forum in which artists, academics and specialists explore the breadth of contemporary performance art from Asia and the Pacific, and the wide ranging issues and contexts it contends with.

In conjunction with APT8 Live, GOMA Cafe Bistro is putting on a special menu from 2.30-5pm, accompanied by beats from Motifs (Dub Temple Records).

Nice to know - Visitors can get engaged with APT8 Live via a line-up of monthly event days that explore performance and body and for those who would like to join in, the monthly workshop Super Critical Mass is available to participate, evolving each time up to a final massed performance on the APT8 closing weekend.

Need to know - APT Live is held on Sundays - 31 January, 21 February, 20 March from 11am and on the Closing Weekend Apr 9-10 from 12pm.
