Wonderland

Brisbane Powerhouse

The Brisbane Powerhouse is transformed into a virtual Wonderland throughout December, with night markets, outdoor performance tents and a mind-blowing array of circus, cabaret, music, burlesque, theatre, poetry and vaudeville shows.

The Wonderland festival, a fabulous carnival under the stars, is Brisbane’s foremost summer festival - the place for family and friends to gather and soak up the atmosphere, catch a show or two and partake in delicious treats from the night markets.

Highlights of the festival this year include headline act Glorybox: La Revolucion, fresh from their South American tour, who are set to thrill with their subversive, raucous circus, musical and burlesque acts along with comedy rock star duo and squabbling siblings Die Roten Punkte whose hysterical new show Kunst Rock is a mix of comedy, pop and rock’n’roll.

Die Roten Punkte

On the back of its smash-hit Broadway season, Songs for the Fallen is a celebration of the life of Marie Duplessis, the French courtesan who inspired Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge. Also returning to the stage for Wonderland is I Want to Know What Love Is, the show based on 800 anonymous tales of love, lust, crushes and conquests by fav Brisbane playwright/director Dan Evans.

I Want to Know What Love Is

A new Must Visit this year is the Bamboozled Tents, where from 6-10 each evening, a variety of vaudeville, circus, mime, comedy and flea circus acts will be performed.

Pulpshow

And from Thursday to Sunday the Wonderland Food markets will be on hand to offer delicious eats from the Jan Powers Farmers Markets stall holders.
