Boaters And Beers
Newstead House
Boaters and Beers gives dads and their families a chance for a relaxing and fun get-together on Father's Day at Brisbane’s gracious and oldest surviving residence, Newstead House.
Dad can enjoy plenty of cold craft beer, together with bubbles, both of which will be served in the fountain courtyard (with all proceeds going to the preservation of Newstead House).
The whole family can enjoy a picnic in the grounds of Newstead Park while savouring the delicious flavours of the Brisbane Food Truck Collective, including King of Wings, MiCasa Burger Truck, Pizzantica, Rolls Pho Mi, Ruby the Little Red Icecream Truck & Rolls Pho Mi. Or BYO your own hamper of treats.
Other treats include music, with Talking Jazz performing on the Newstead House's wraparound verandas and Brass Bands and Pipers down by the river at the historic rotunda, as well as the chance to play heritage garden games in the pristine manicured gardens.
As for those boaters, they were popular casual summer headgear worn in the 19th and early 20th century, especially for the gentleman who liked to go boating or sailing. The hats gradually became an acceptable piece of both men’s and women’s wardrobes so add a bit of old-fashioned formality to the day by wearing one.
Nice to know - While you're there, why not take a tour (ticketed) of Newstead House, Brisbane's oldest surviving residence and a perfect time capsule of a bygone era.
Need to know - Dogs are welcome too, on leash.
