Civosity Park
Bardon
Updated: May 01, 2026
Civosity Park is a unique and enchanting sculpture garden on the edge of Ithaca Creek in Bardon, that is the creation of Brisbane sculptor David Engwicht.
Set to close on Saturday May 16, there will be a special closing party from 4-7pm.
As you emerge from the Ithaca Creek bikeway and walking path underneath Jubilee Terrace, this little magic land appears like a mirage. Or, if you're coming from the corner of Fletcher Parade, pass the ionic column and animal sculpture scene and painted fridge street library that front the sculptor's house and you'll happen across it, too.
This colourful and whimsical little land, which is actually the back yard of the artist's house and open to the public, features outdoor sundeck chairs and loungers, kids chairs, sculptures and play equipment.
With winding paths weaving through lush plants, over charming bridges and into hidden nooks, it’s an ideal space for a game of hide and seek among the greenery. The family who curated the space envisioned it as a place to be explored, used and enjoyed by Brisbane’s local community.
Of note is this beautiful piece of David's, entitled The Great Race, which features a delightful tiny door. Through the generous donations of many members of the public, David was able to create this sculpture to commemorate his turning 70 years old in 2020.
But not just for kids, adults will enjoy sitting on the furniture under the tree and taking in the beauty of this artistic little space. At night, it's especially pretty, with thousands of fairy lights suspended in the trees.
This park is the perfect place to unwind and admire some of Brisbane’s best public art while the kids play nearby. This piece by Graham Radcliffe, called Jacqueline, is a beautiful rendition of classical sculptures with a modern twist.
With trees enveloping the space, this little secret garden tucked away in Bardon feels almost like a fairytale. It’s an ideal spot to roll out a picnic blanket and enjoy a relaxed picnic in the shade.
Civosity park is the perfect spot to enjoy a moment of peace during the week. With a communal library just down the road, you can bring a book (or borrow one) and soak up the Brisbane weather in a calm, leafy setting.
