UQ's colourful springtime BLOOM Festival is back for its 3rd year, with a spectacular light show, live music, creative workshops, interactive exhibits and culinary events, in the midst of the jacaranda season from October 17-Nov 1, 2020.

Over 2 weeks, the general public are invited to come and enjoy the brilliant light and sounds displays illuminating UQ's lakes and be immersed in the many beautiful outdoor spaces and exhibits that will be on display throughout.

Highlights of the festival include:

Bloom Illuminate - UQ Lakes illuminate from nightfall each night with this spectacular free light and sound display that has been curated in partnership with PHD student Taana Rose from the School of Music. Nightly 6-10pm

Long Table Dinner - Take a seat under the blooming jacarandas and enjoy a delicious spring-inspired dinner, live entertainment and stunning light display. Oct 20 5.30-8pm. Book here

Twilight Tunes - Musicians will be there to serenade you every night from 4-6pm under the jacarandas during BLOOM festival. Nightly 4-6pm

UQ Bloom Festival

Sunset Picnic - Spend an evening with friends or family, enjoying live music and the spectacular light and sound show. First, pick up your Sunset Picnic at UQ Lakes, then sit under the blossoming jacaranda trees with a shared platter of vintage cheeses, brie topped with honeycomb, seasonal berries, olives and crackers. Oct 28. Book here

Lantern Parade (closing event) - This parade, carrying individually lit, hand-made lanterns starts in UQ's Great Court with an official welcome and ends at the beautiful UQ lakes, with a moment's silence and reflection for those affected by the events of the past year. A limited number of lanterns are available to carry on the night. You can also register to make your own lantern at one of the preceding workshops during the festival. Oct 30
