I’m A Phoenix, Bitch is a masterpiece about motherhood, heartbreak and finding inner strength from one of the UK's most significant performance artists, Bryony Kimmings, coming to QPAC from September 18 to 21.

Following her sold-out season of Fake It 'Til You Make It (2015)and a season of I’m a Phoenix, Bitch at this year’s Edinburgh Festival presented to rave reviews, the live artist returns to Brisbane as part of the Brisbane Festival with this powerful, dark and joyous tour de force.

In 2016, Bryony nearly drowned. Postnatal depression, an imploding relationship and an extremely ill child left her sitting beneath the waves hoping she could slowly turn to shell.

Three years later, she has turned what was a terrible year into a magical feminist musical as she combines her deeply personal stories with epic film and original pop songs.

Relentless in its honesty and exquisite in its artistry, this deeply personal, offbeat musical about postnatal depression demands to be seen.

“Her extraordinary new show raises the bar considerably; it’s the best thing she’s ever done.” The Scotsman

“I’ve rarely seen a piece of such searing, raw honesty, channelled into powerful, beautiful, heartbreaking theatre…Extraordinary theatre, unmissable.” Britishtheatre.com

“The word-of-mouth, you-must-see-this, beg-a-ticket show. Performance artist Kimmings turns a terrible year – postnatal depression, relationship breakdown, desperately ill child – into a magical feminist musical.” The Guardian

“I’m a Phoenix, Bitch by Bryony Kimmings is thrilling. Personal tragedy transformed into something epic, beautiful and so, so moving.” Graham Norton

"For the record Bryony Kimmings' I'm a Phoenix, Bitch is the most affecting and emotionally deep thing I've ever seen in the theatre… Do whatever you have to do to get to it." Neil Gaiman
