Brisbane Festival Comedy

Various Venues

Brisbane Festival is bringing a host of hilarious, side-splitting shows to various venues across Brisbane this September including some of Australia's favourite comics. Here are some highlights of this laugh-fest:

John Safran, writer, comedian and natural-born troublemaker, has made a career of turning up where he isn’t wanted. Join John at QPAC from September 11 to 14 as he spills the beans on skinheads, immigrants and his career in his new show Jew Detective: Sarcasm is not a Crime.

Australia's favourite Kiwi comedian, Cal Wilson, has been at this thing called life for a while now, but she still hasn't quite nailed it. Join Cal for an entertaining evening as she asks some of life's big questions -  Has she done enough with her life? Does anyone eat brussel sprouts by choice? - when she brings her new show Gifted Underachiever to QPAC from September 18 to 21.

Anne Edmonds, one of Australia's most exciting stand-up, character and banjo-playing comedians, is bringing her hilarious, surprising and completely on point show, What's Wrong With You? to QPAC from September 18 to 21.

With one foot planted firmly in the soils of reality, and the other rooted deep in a determination to redefine silliness, Sam Simmons is one of the most daring and unconventional comics in Australia. Don’t miss the completely original and vastly absurd 26 Things You’re Doing Wrong with Sam Simmons when it comes to The Tivoli for 2 shows only on September 11 and 12.

Cassie Workman's one-person-show, Giantess, explores the anguish of coming to terms with a gender identity that doesn't match your body. Created by the multi-award-winning comedian, Giantess is a story of self-acceptance, interweaving music, comedy, storytelling and illustration, at La Boite Theatre from September 24-28.

Tyrone and Lesley in a Spot is funny, poetic and weird, as they entwine their beautiful, humorous ukulele music with moving images of skies, suns and moons, clarity and clouds, flickering bulbs and high windows. It's their high spots in bright lights, at La Boite Theatre on September 17 to 21.

Pawn Again Christian is a topsy-turvy ride on the merry-go-round of faith, where one is often trampled by carousel horses. Join Annie Lee (The Kransky Sisters) at La Boite Theatre from September 24 to 28 as she presents her new show inspired by her life growing up in a fundamentalist religion.
