In Winter

It may be cold outside but you can still stay fit and healthy this winter in Brisbane, with free and low-cost fit and healthy activities organised by Brisbane City Council.

From free outdoor gyms to BMX parks, golf courses, heated pools and loads of free fitness classes, there's something to suit everyone, from all ages and fitness levels.

HEATED POOLS

Even though it's winter you can still take the plunge and enjoy a swim, with 12 out of Brisbane City Council's 22 pools heated and open for business:

Brisbane North - The Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre, Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool, Chermside Aquatic Centre

Brisbane South - Parkinson Aquatic Centre, Acacia Ridge Pool, Runcorn Pool

Brisbane East - Colmslie, Langlands Park Memorial Pool, Mt Gravatt East Aquatic Centre

Brisbane West - Dunlop Park Pool, Jindalee Pool

All usual lessons and classes will run at these pools during the winter period. With opening hours catering to dedicated lap swimmers and families alike, pools are the perfect low-cost activity for the whole family. To find out more about keeping fit through winter at a heated pool visit Brisbane City Council’s website and search ‘More to see and do’.

SKATE PARKS

Get on your skateboard and head down to one of Council's 37 skate parks, with facilities on offer for people of all ages to feel welcome, learn new skills and get active and healthy. Recent major upgrades to a number of skate parks across Brisbane, (including Inala, Murarrie and Paddington) and new skate parks in Ashgrove, Keperra and Balmoral mean there’s more to see and do for skateboarders than ever before. Plus, if you get tired of doing 180's and board slides, you can ride your scooter or BMX at many skate parks too.

BMX PARKS

Brisbane BMX riders can jump into 360° tailspins or flip trick their deck at one of Brisbane's BMX or skate parks. Whether you’re a novice or seasoned pro, the Bracken Ridge BMX track (one of the largest in Australia) or the newly opened facility at Darra, will keep you entertained for hours with plenty of freestyle jumps and transitions.

OUTDOOR GYMS

Why take out a pricey gym membership when you can get fit for free with the city’s free outdoor gym equipment at your local park. Council has more than 130 outdoor gyms across Brisbane where you can exercise in the fresh air while enjoying the beautiful mild Brisbane winter.
