Hoo Ha Bar
South Brisbane
THE HOO HA BAR HAS CLOSED AT THIS LOCATION AND IN JULY 2017 WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW ONE.
The Hoo Ha Bar is South Brisbane's best hidden treasure – a funky industrial vintage cafe bar occupying an old brick QR railway workshop behind South Bank station.
Inside the light high-ceilinged space is gorgeously kitted out with a mish mash of wooden tables and chairs, church pews, vintage couch, hanging pot plants and stunning wall art, making a warm homey retreat from the slick modern vibe of most South Bank venues.
But it's not just the décor that makes the Hoo Ha hot, it's the delicious share worthy food served up on wooden platters with wood-handled cutlery and in rustic little pots. All dishes are freshly prepared with top quality ingredients – think braised wagyu polpettes in a rosemary tomato sugo, capers and zest with warmed ciabatta or artichoke, buffalo mozzarella, aged balsamic, rocket walnuts and olive tapenade on sour dough – and best of all, nothing's over 11 dollars, with the Fruit Max toast, butter and leatherwood honey costing a handful of change at $3.
Coffee is brilliantly brewed Supreme Roasters and on the serious drinks front Hoo Ha Bar serves up a great range of craft beers (on tap and by the bottle) and ciders, boutique wines and luscious cocktails like the fruity vodka mix hippy Hippy Shake and My Bloody Maria, a pick-me-up for any time of day.
