Wittonga Park

The Gap

Wittonga Park is a cool shady space with something for everyone, tucked away in leafy westside suburb The Gap.

The tree-lined setting boasts a children’s multi levelled playground and wide-open spaces surrounded by the unspoiled waterways of Fish Creek.

The split-level playground offers infant and children’s swings, an ascending rock-climbing wall, and an all-time favourite, the swinging saucer.

Stepping down onto the terrace below, children of all ages can enjoy taking a leap across the balancing equipment, zipping along the flying fox, or adventuring through the fort style playground.

There is also a spinning ball that little ones will love to whirl and twirl, and a swinging hammock to relax under the shady trees.

The peaceful setting is also a lovely space to enjoy a family picnic or BBQ. Featuring sheltered picnic tables and a BBQ area adjacent to the playground, adults can enjoy cooking up a family meal while the children are busily entertained.

Wittonga Park The Gap

From the children’s playground, Wittonga Park is accessed from a small bridge which leads through to an expansive tree lined oval. This wide open space is the perfect place for the family to join in some leisurely activities, kick a ball or just simply relax.

There is also a picturesque walking trail running alongside the park and is well suited for a quick stroll with the pram or to practise those bike and scooter riding techniques. The flat short path is well shaded from its bushy surroundings and runs along the creek bed of Fish Creek.

At the further end of Wittonga Park you will find a BMX dirt bike circuit perfect for testing those skills for the bike enthusiast in the family. Biking fans and older kids alike will love taking their bikes or scooters for a challenging jump or spin around the track and is sure to provide hours of endless fun.

If you have the family pet in tow, then head past the bike trail and across a small bridge you will find a fully fenced off leash dog park with separate fenced sections for both small and large dogs. The area offers plenty of shaded seating in both sections so it’s the perfect place to take a rest while your furry friend plays.

Need to know: - Wittonga Park Playground can be accessed by foot or car with on-site car parking on the corner of Hilder and Alutha Road. There is separate car parking off Hilder Road opposite Hilder Road State School. The off leash dog park can be found just past the playground from the Alutha Road entrance.
