Updated: Jul 21, 2025

Brisbane and surrounds offer children and families a wide range of opportunities to experience living history. From exploring an 19th century fortress ruin or old Navy ship to  experiencing life a century ago, here are some great ways to learn about life in the "olden days":

Travel back in time to Beenleigh Historic Village and museum, where anyone can learn about the daily struggles of the early settlers. A visit to the Old Beenleigh post office is a real treat as is Wilkie's General Store and various replica cottages
