Red Sky Morning

Newmarket

Red Sky Morning is the must-see acclaimed Australian play by Tom Holloway, presented by Room To Play Productions at the Lisa Taylor King Gallery & Studio, Newmarket.

Directed by Beth Child, the beautiful work was named Play of the Year by the Sunday Age when it was first produced by Red Stitch in Melbourne. It’s described as a “harrowing relatable drama” about a regional Australian husband and wife who crave to connect amidst the daily routine of family life. Meanwhile, their teenage daughter is fantasising about her first love.

The play’s performance will be particularly fresh and interesting in its setting of the Lisa Taylor King Gallery & Studio, with an exhibition being presented in theme with the show, entitled Coastlines.

Red Sky Morning

Founder of the theatre group, the very accomplished Heidi Manché, plays the role of Woman, while Wayne Bassett, trained by Andrzej Siedlecki, Jennie Dibley and Chris Sommers, plays Man. Madison Kennedy-Tucker, in her debut with the company, and who recently performed at Melbourne Fringe in Player 2 and in Short and Sweet Festival, plays Girl.

The award-winning playwright, Tom Holloway’s previous works include As We Forgive, and And No More Shall We Part. Director Child says of Red Sky Morning that it’s “a play where the desire to be heard admist the cacophony of noise inside and outside our heads runs deep.” She likens its construction to a piece of music written for a trio of instruments, their voices interweaving, echoing and complementing the others.
