Botanic By Night: NightGlow

Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha

Updated: Sep 07, 2026

A spectacular after-dark experience is set to transform Brisbane's Botanic Gardens into an illuminated wonderland of lanterns inspired by native wildlife!

Making its debut from 25 September to 10 October, Botanic By Night: NightGlow invites visitors to explore an enchanting 800-metre trail where 11 larger-than-life Australian animals light up the night. From kangaroos and koalas to platypus, dingoes and green tree frogs, each luminous sculpture comes alive through colour, sound and storytelling.

Botanic By Night: NightGlow

More than just a dazzling night-time walk, NightGlow explores the wildlife, habitats and stories that shape Queensland's natural environment, offering a rare chance to experience the Botanic Gardens after dark.

The experience has been designed by award-winning creative studio Ample Projects in collaboration with First Nations artists Casey Coolwell-Fisher and Nathan Peckham. Drawing on contemporary art and sacred First Nations knowledge, each installation tells its own story, highlighting the deep connections between wildlife, plants and place.

As you make your way along the paved sections of the Queensland Conservation Trail and Gardens Explorer Trail, immersive soundscapes and glowing artworks create moments of wonder around every corner.

And while the installations are sure to be a hit with little explorers, this isn't just one for the kids. With its atmospheric setting and after-dark glow, Botanic By Night: NightGlow makes for a magical family outing, a fun night with friends or a seriously unique date night beneath the stars.

Entry sessions run every 30 minutes from 6.30pm, with the final session beginning at 9pm. The experience itself takes around 30 minutes, but you're welcome to take your time and soak it all in.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children aged 3–12, with discounted Brisbane resident pricing available at $25 for adults and $12.50 for children. Children aged two and under are free, but still require a ticket.
