Clontarf

Updated: Aug 24, 2026

Get ready for a sky-high celebration! VietJet Redcliffe KiteFest is returning to Pelican Park in Clontarf on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, with a spectacular weekend of giant kites, colourful displays, family-friendly activities and school holiday fun. And the best part? Entry is completely free.

From 10am to 4pm each day, more than 20,000 visitors are expected to flock to the waterfront for one of Moreton Bay’s biggest annual events, with spectacular kite displays set to transform the skies into a colourful canvas.

The main attraction, of course, will be the kites. International and Australian kite flyers will take to the skies with giant creations, intricate designs and spectacular displays that are guaranteed to have little ones, and big kids, looking up in wonder. But there’s plenty more to experience!

Families can explore the jam-packed Kids Zone, get involved in interactive activities, grab something delicious to eat and settle in for a relaxed day by the waterfront. With the full program still to be announced, there’s plenty more fun to come.

With Pelican Park providing a stunning waterfront backdrop, KiteFest is the perfect excuse to pack a picnic rug, round up the family and make a day of exploring the Redcliffe Peninsula.

The festival was moved from a paid-entry model to a free family-friendly event in 2025, making it even more accessible for locals and visitors - and it’s back in 2026 for another weekend of colour, creativity and community spirit.

Whether you’re there for the incredible kite displays, the kids’ activities, the food or simply the chance to soak up the coastal atmosphere, this is one school holiday outing worth adding to the calendar.
