The breathtaking music of legendary composer Joe Hisaishi – best known as the musical genius behind many beloved Studio Ghibli films – is coming to Brisbane this October, with Art of the Score: The Music of Joe Hisaishi set to bring some of cinema’s most beloved soundtracks to life.
Taking over the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on October 2 and 3, this spectacular concert will see the Queensland Symphony Orchestra perform Hisaishi’s unforgettable music from 7.30pm.
From Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro to Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle, expect a magical night celebrating the music behind some of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic films – as well other film scores as part Hisaishi’s long-standing creative partnership with director Hayao Miyazaki.
But it is more than just a concert. Art of the Score podcasters Andrew Pogson and Dan Golding, alongside conductor Nicholas Buc, will take audiences behind the music, exploring the stories, artistry and inspiration behind Hisaishi’s celebrated film scores and orchestral works.
Alongside beloved Ghibli themes, the program will feature rarely heard masterpieces from Hisaishi’s concert works and film collaborations, performed by the full force of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
