Zephyr Bar is West End's secret rooftop oasis - a leafy garden pavilion style bar with a retractable roof on the top floor of The Montague Hotel, where you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and delicious share plates.
Accessed via a staircase just inside the Montague Rd entrance of The Montague Hotel, Zephyr Bar is a world away from the pub downstairs.
A wraparound glass window-encased bar area with hanging ferns and feature wall art opens onto the open air terrace, strung with golden lights and where there are a couple of trees in pots and a scattering of tables and chairs to enjoy an al fresco drink.
Zephyr Bar's concise wine list offers a selection of boutique Australian wines along with French rose and champagne, while there's a selection of craft and standard beers both on tap and bottled.
As for the cocktail menu, choose from refreshing house signatures Zephyr Splice (spiced rum, Licor 43, pineapple juice & vanilla syrup) and Zephyr Spritz (campari, peach schnapps, watermelon liqueur, apple juice, lime & soda) or classics such as Espresso Martini, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Negroni, Old Fashioned and Mojito.
The food menu is ideal for grazing and includes chargrilled Fremantle octopus with chorizo, rocket verde & lemon; house made pork spring rolls with gochujang sweet syrup; waffle-cut seasoned fried potato with house chutney; and haloumi kebabs (with charred mushroom, capsicum, red onion, lemon evoo and fried oregano).
Other delicious options include mini yiros (build your own) with slow roasted lamb shoulder, house made flat bread and accompaniments; zucchini fritters with Persian feta, tomato & capsicum chutney; and char grilled skewers (choice of glazed chicken or beef with Kingaroy peanut sauce).
Recommended are Zephyr Bar's gourmet mini pizzas (choice of margherita or meat of the day); otherwise there's a charcuterie plate (served with charred bread and accompaniments) a selection of artisan cheeses (served with conserve and crackers); and, for dessert, Affogato with Frangelico, espresso shot and vanilla bean ice cream.
Good to know - There is live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Zephyr Bar is available for functions.
