Bluenose Betty Bar & Kitchen

Sandgate

Bluenose Betty Bar & Kitchen is a stunning eatery housed in the historic, art deco Sandgate Billiard Saloon.

Wedged between Salvos and Maccas, on Sandgate's main thoroughfare, Bluenose Betty boasts a vintage vibe with vaulted ceilings, pretty blue and white wallpaper, striking red pressed metal bar, and a bookcase filled with bottles of wine.

Patrons can dine inside the light-filled restaurant with plenty of seating provided or al fresco in the Tuscan-style courtyard beer garden with retractable roof and central garden feature.

The extensive menu features tasty bar bites such as beer battered fries and crispy onion rings, baked camembert and baked pretzels, popcorn chicken and salt and pepper squid strips, spiced zucchini fritters and tempura cauliflower florets served with a trio of dipping sauces.

There's classic pub fare from buttermilk chicken wings and big chicken schnittys, to soft tacos (stuffed with Baja fish, popcorn chicken or marinated steak strips) and mouth-watering sirloin steaks with your choice of crispy chat potatoes or beer battered fries, fresh salad or seasonal veges, and sauce: mushroom gravy, peppercorn, Diane, or garlic and tarragon butter.

Plus, there are flatbread pizzas - Margherita, Vego, BBQ Chicken, Marinated Steak, or Garlic Prawn and Salami - as well as a variety of juicy burgers: classic wagyu cheese burger, hickory smoked bbq pulled pork, peri peri chicken, or haloumi and mushroom. Or share a charcuterie plate piled with prosciutto, salami, camembert, cheddar,  mixed olives, pickles, grapes, relish, crackers and charred flatbread.

Drinks wise, there's a constantly rotating selection of cold craft beers, ciders and ginger beers on tap, plus cans and bottles in the fridge.

In addition, there's a sizeable wine list, spirits, and cocktails including all the great classics and creative concoctions like the Pineapple & Jalapeno Margarita, Pillow & a Blankie (Bulleit bourbon whisky and cloudy apple juice with honey and ginger syrup), and Fluff Head (bubble gum-infused vodka, Chambord liqueur, lime juice, passionfruit, apple juice and fairy floss).
