Northey Street Organic Farmers Market

Held in the shaded carpark adjacent to the Northey Street Farm on Sunday mornings, Northey Street Organic Farmers Market is the only purely organic produce market in Brisbane.

Under the canopy of the majestic Moreton Bay Fig trees, shoppers can pick up everything they need for the week ahead.

With all stallholders needing to be certified organic, expect the freshest range of hand-picked fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, fresh hive honey and more.

From micro-herbs to freshly-baked breads and pastries, the markets offer the best spot in town to meet the makers and growers, and buy straight from the farmer, with local meats and sustainable seafood also available.

While you shop, you can sip on takeaway fair-trade coffees and herbal teas, and stock up on take-home coffee beans, with the temptation to pair it with healthy, raw, sweet treats and organic chocolates that might not even make it to the car, they're that delish.

If hunger strikes, there are heaps of delicious stalls to choose, offering freshly cooked, healthy options - and plenty of spots to sit under the trees when you need to recharge.

Not just about food, the markets are where you can find bulk spring water, small-batch candles, ethically-produced clothing, and a gorgeous splattering of handmade gifts and homewares.

Make time to head through to the enchanting little farm that at the back of the markets – a tangle of vegie patches, herb gardens, chicken coops, a nursery and rustic play equipment to discover.

Great to know - The Northey Street Markets are dog-friendly, so bring your pooch along - and remember to keep them on-leash at all times.
