MICA is a chic artisan patisserie, bistro and bar overlooking the water at Newstead in the brand new Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct.
Located on the promenade, a short stroll from Newstead Park, MICA is now open for dine-in breakfast offering delicious dishes along with boozy breakfast cocktails like seasonal Bellinis and Bloody Marys made with your choice of spirit: vodka, gin or tequila.
Mouth-watering fare ranges from shared appetisers to main dishes. Shared plates consist of homemade crumpets with Ceylon cinnamon whipped butter and spiced apple compote, thick slices of brioche pan-fried and rolled in anise sugar with mandarin compote and fresh vanilla whipped cream, and Crumble - roasted pineapple with a hint of chilli topped with macadamia nut crumble, kaffir lime and coconut water sorbet.
Mains too good to share include Classic Omelettes made with Gruyere cheese and Swiss brown mushroom, Like Eggs Benedict, But Better (smoked pork jowl grilled, English-style toasted muffin, poached free range egg and chardonnay vinegar hollandaise), and Iron Bark Cold Smoked Cauliflower - a delicious savoury vegan dish of cauliflower rubbed with pumpkin seed butter and maple bbq seasoning served with avocado, salt-cured organic tomatoes and harissa oil.
Adjacent to the brasserie is MICA's European-style bakery which offers a delectable selection of artisan breads, gourmet pies and flaky pastries - think almond croissants, apricot danishes, bear claws and Nutella cruffins - plus exquisite sweets such as chocolate eclairs, caramel choux and fruit tarts.
Besides cocktails, patrons can sip expertly brewed coffee, cocoa, tea, fresh pressed juices and more including beer, cider and wine, with a carefully-curated wine list consisting of Australian and international top drops.
Nice to know - Located on the open promenade overlooking Breakfast Creek, MICA is the perfect spot to enjoy a freshly-baked treat and well-brewed coffee in the winter sun with adirondack chairs provided right on the water's edge.
Need to know - There is ample parking via a car park off Durong Street.
