The Ruby Jazz Club

Fortitude Valley

Updated: Apr 30, 2026

The Ruby Jazz Club is a gorgeous secret speakeasy featuring live jazz music, classic cocktails, and 1920s-era charm, tucked away behind a red door in a Fortitude Valley laneway.

With no signage and an air of mystery, guests enter through the unmarked door to discover an intimate, art deco–inspired venue reminiscent of a New York jazz club.

Bandstand at The Ruby Jazz Club

The brainchild of Brisbane jazz pianist Meredith Brothers, The Ruby Jazz C,lub was born from a deep passion for the genre and a desire to support the next generation of jazz musicians. Open on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30pm to midnight, the venue offs two distinct experiences:

Bandstand at The Ruby Jazz Club

Friday Nights (Ticketed Shows): A focused, concert-style setting featuring exceptional local, interstate, and international jazz artists. Guests are encouraged to sit back, listen, and fully immerse themselves in the music.

Saturday Nights (Free Entry): A relaxed, social atmosphere showcasing local emerging jazz duos and trios — the perfect backdrop for conversation, drinks, and discovery

Seating inside The Ruby Jazz Club

Complementing the music, a selection of casual bites and drinks to enjoy during and between sets. The cocktail list features playful Prohibition-era creations — some served discreetly in teacups. Guests can also enjoy a selection from an international wine list, and a standout bourbon collection worthy of New Orleans itself.

Despite its small footprint, The Ruby Jazz Club delivers a premium, intimate experience designed to transport guests to another time and place — one where music takes centre stage.
