Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery

Albion

Granddad Jack's Craft Distillery is tucked away in a stunningly converted warehouse, steeped in old world charm in an industrial Albion side street.

Step inside the barn-like door to find a gorgeous rustic split level space, with shiny distillery barrels in the front section and a greenhouse and air garden out back. The entire place has been built with recycled materials including wrought iron and stained glass windows salvaged from an old dance school down the road.

Named after the owner's great-grandfather, who in the early 20th century was a racing horse owner from Otago, New Zealand, Granddad Jack's is the go-to for house-made gin, vodka and craft beer.

The entire space has been Customers can take a seat in the Chesterfield lounge area, on the wrought iron garden furniture along the wall or out back near the greenhouse, perched on a stool at the bar or, for a real treat, in the cosy ambient barrel room.

The drinks menu includes a gin tasting board (20mly of each house gin paired with garnishes and grapefruit tonic and dry tonic, served on ice), Granddad Jack's Classic (gin/vodka with tonic/soda or juice) as well as two house craft beers on tap and gin/vodka or liqueur cocktails.

House cocktails, which are like nothing to be found elsewhere in Brisbane, include Buttered Up (Albion gin ongeat, lemon ginger, mushroom butter, salted basil and pear syrup) served in a coupe glass and Not So Tom Collins (penny vodka, butterfly pea syrup, lemon juice, blossom tonic) served in a tall glass with fresh flowers.

Another house special are Barrel Aged Cocktails, classic cocktails such as Manhattan, Negroni and Martini, pre-mixed and left to rest in 20 litre barrels. There's also a Cocktail of the Week and a selection of Mocktails.

While no food is served, customers are welcome to BYO food such as cheese or charcuterie plates and order Uber eats.

Good to know - Fresh produce used in the drinks is grown onsite in the greenhouse and air garden.
