Woody Guthrie: Songs of Freedom
Brisbane Powerhouse
Celebrate one of the greatest folk singers of all time when Woody Guthrie: Songs of Freedom comes to Brisbane Powerhouse for two shows only on Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17.
This unique concert, dedicated to the American folk hero's songs of freedom, social justice and equality, is a timely reminder of the universal power of great folk music and the voice it gives to the struggles of ordinary people.
In a world where bigotry, racism, violence and inequality are all too present, his songs are just as relevant today as when he first wrote them in the 1930s and 40s.
Woody Guthrie: Songs of Freedom features Bruce Hearn (from Strange Tenants) and The Machinists, along with Australia's folk music icons Mic Conway (Captain Matchbox), Margret RoadKnight, Jan “YARN” Wositzky (Bushwhackers), Kavisha Mazzella, and the Brisbane Combined Unions Choir.
Nice to know - Purchase a VIP ticket for $79 which includes A-Reserved Seating plus a CD.
