We Are | A Self Portrait Workshop

South Bank

WE ARE | A Self Portrait Workshop is a highlight of this year’s Out of the Box Festival, with free workshops and performances for children aged 8 years and under and their families, held outdoors at Flowstate, South Bank’s stunning sculptural venue.

Children can join a workshop to paint their reflection and then watch performances by our youngest First Nations’ Citizens that reflect their deep cultural connections in this contemporary world.

WE ARE | A Self Portrait Workshop

In the hands-on workshop, children paint their own self portrait and add it to an exhibition that celebrates self-identity and the wonderful diversity of individuals in society.

WE ARE | A Self Portrait Workshop

Two professional practicing artists will be on-hand with artist-grade materials to help each participant explore through portraiture how children evolve their identity. This topic is sensitively explored knowing that everyone can develop their understanding of themselves in a way that’s different to how others see them from the outside.
