Tumbling Stone

Spring Hill

TUMBLING STONE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Tumbling Stone is a breezy garden pavilion style restaurant and bar alongside the street front entrance of The Johnson Art Series Hotel in Spring Hill.

Whether for drinks and tapas, long lazy lunch or a delectable breakfast, Tumbling Stone makes a great casual hangout for hotel guests and locals alike.

Patrons can take a seat in the ambient cosy lounge bar or the cool open-sided dining halls and enjoy one of a rotating line-up of local craft beers on tap or a glass of premium wine or a house specialty gin from one of Australia’s own distillers.

The eclectic food menu too is a showcase of local producers – think Bangalow Sweet Pork, Eggcetera Eggs and Mount Zero Olives – and is designed to share.

Bar Snacks include Braised Duck Spring Rolls, Chipotle Glazed Chicken Wings and BBQ Corn with chilli salt and parmesan. Meanwhile for either lunch or Dinner there are Small Plates (such as Blackened belly of Bangalow Pork with kimchi lime and crackling) and Large Plates (think Wagyu Cheese Burger, Rosemary Crusted Lamb Rump or House Made Ricotta Dumplings with wild mushroom ragout).

Breakfast at Tumbling Stone is a stand-out and a cut way above anything most hotels serve. Look out for creative dishes such as Grilled Haloumi, beetroot hummus, caramelized broccoli mole, poached eggs, quinoa and soya bean toast, Sour Cherry French Toast with berry compote, whipped coconut cream and toasted pistachio or Warm Vannella Burrata, Heirloom Tomatoes, Shaved Zucchini, basil oil and seeded baguette.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
