For Tibet With Love
Bemac World Music Cafe
A melodic fusion performed by Tibetan, Japanese, Indian and Afro-Folk artists is guaranteed to entrance you at BEMAC's newest World Music Café, For Tibet With Love, on Saturday September 23.
This special, intimate concert will include mesmerising performances by Tenzin Choegyal, an internationally-renowned musician and activist from Tibet who feels deeply connected to the music from his homeland through the influences of his parents' musicality they shared as he grew up. His performances have been labelled as beautifully-evocative, spine tingling, healing and transcendent.
For the past twenty years, Tenzin has spent time collaborating with artists world-wide, including Australia, on For Tibet With Love concerts from New York to Tokyo, which have allowed him the opportunity to experiment with the sounds of traditional Tibetan music, and hone his craft and skills.
The bill also features collective vocal and instrumental synergies with Taro Terahara (an Indian classical music artist popular in Japan's highly-motivated music scene), Australia's leading tabla player, Shen Flindell, along with Brisbane's own Marcella Milani (front man of iconic band, The Toothfaeries and legendary guitarist).
Nice to know - Tibetan momos (delicious dumplings) will be available for purchase at the event. There is heaps of free parking at the venue and in the surrounding streets. Doors open at 6.30pm.
Need to know - Book your tickets online early as the last two BEMAC World Music Cafés sold out quickly.
