There's a bundle of fun to be had these school holidays at Museum of Brisbane, with a fantastic line-up of FREE and low-cost activities for the entire family, from Saturday 30 March to Sunday 14 April.
With brand new before-hours tours, the return of popular teen workshops, and a new drop-in Suncatcher activity, MoB is your one-stop school holiday destination for entertaining the kids.
Rearranged: Young Explorers Tour, Tues, Wed + Thu, 9.15am-10.15am, $15 per child
Ever wanted to have a Museum all to yourself? Gather up your little art lovers these school holidays for an exciting and very exclusive adventure as MoB open their doors early just for you with the return of the Young Explorers Tour.
Designed for 6-12 year olds and their grown-ups, this fully immersive experience includes a special tour of the Rearranged: Art of the Flower exhibition. Kids can get hands on with some real life artworks with MoB's special interactive touch trolley before creating their own masterpiece to take home. Free for accompanying parents/carers, adults can choose to tag along or sit back and relax in the Dome Gallery while they wait.
Teen Gelli Printing Workshop, Apr 3 & 10, 2:30pm-4pm, $25 per person (plus $1.99 booking fee)
This workshop is perfect for 13 to 17 years old, who want to learn the magic of monoprinting. Teens will learn how to make art using the Gelli Plate technique. They'll gain inspiration with a tour of MoB’s Rearranged: Art of the Flower exhibition before returning to the studio where they'll use magazines, stencils and botanicals to create plant-inspired prints to take home. Places strictly limited.
Make a Light Catcher - Mar 30-Apr 14, 10:30am-1:30pm, $2 each or $5 for 3 light catchers
Be inspired by Leadlight Craftsman Julian Podmore as you make your very own light catcher to take home using collage techniques. Just like the beautiful stained glass windows you'd find in an old Queenslander home, these suncatchers are fun way to experiment with light, colours and creativity.

MoB have been growing a colourful garden, and it’s set to burst out of the Adelaide Street Pavilion these school holidays! Help Artist in Residence Hiromi Tango build a healing garden for everyone to enjoy. Using recycled materials, learn some basic techniques to make tiny fabric blooms that will grow into a community garden full of creativity and joy.
Clock Tower Tours - Daily, every 15 minutes, 10:15am-4:45pm, Free (bookings essential)
Discover the hidden secrets of Brisbane's heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of the iconic Clock Tower. The tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces, and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Little Artist’s Eye Spy, Daily, 10am-5pm, Free – available upon request at Reception.
Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. There is plenty for little eyes to spy with MoB's free activity sheet. This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions.
