Science Station
Workshops Rail Museum
The award-winning Workshops Rail Museum turns into a Science Station this school holiday, with a host of exciting scientific activities on top of the usual railway-themed fun.
Within the workshops is the special Science Station Zone where children can test their skills, challenge the family and have a whole heap of fun at the same time.
From 11am-12pm on weekdays are chemistry based science shows to see and from 1pm-2pm (also on weekdays) are Rocket Launch Workshops where kids can make a paper rocket and fire it off.
Meantime all throughout the day there’s the opportunity to build and test creations in the Forces, Motion and Movement Laboratory or create and invent stuff using K’nex, wheels, cogs and straws.
And in between or after all that kids can let loose in the fantastic indoor Nippers Playground.
As well as the Science Station, there’ll be all of the regular fun Workshops Rail Museum happenings such as driving the train simulators, exploring all of the historic engines and carriages, checking out the mega model railway of Queensland and taking a guided tour of the still operational railway workshop.
Need to know – The Science Station is best suited to ages 3-10 years. Participation in the Science Station is included in the general entry price to the Workshops Rail Museum.
Nice to know – Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic in the grounds of the museum or there’s an onsite café for lunch.
