Reppels Historical B&b

Allora

Updated: Mar 07, 2025

REPPELS HISTORICAL B & B HAS CLOSED.

Take a step back in time at Reppels Historical B&B, a beautifully renovated hidden gem situated in the heart of Allora, one of Southern Queensland Country's friendliest little towns.

Reppels Historical B&B is a credit to owners, Danny and Christina, who have lovingly renovated the property, creating a haven for those looking to stay in Allora. The pair have a keen eye for design and style and provide luxury accommodation of a very high standard. A clever mix of period pieces, modern style, antiques and fascinating memorabilia blends harmoniously, resulting in a unique and welcoming B&B. Add to that the hosts' warm and friendly hospitality and beautifully tended gardens and Reppels B&B ticks all the boxes.

Visitors will immediately sense the history of this property, originally built in the Victorian era. The entry showcases an old Singer sewing machine (cleverly being used as a hall table), historic photographs, memorabilia, and believe it or not a vintage BSA motorbike which takes pride of place.

There are three suites in this B&B, each very different and styled to reflect the era of the building. Generous in size, the suites all boast their own spacious ensuite - including stylish claw foot baths. Beautiful linen, period furniture, fireplaces, air conditioning, tea and coffee stations and old world touches make a stay here an absolute pleasure. Two suites open onto the B&B's lovely wide verandahs where Danny and Christina have created quiet spaces for guests to enjoy a relaxing read or a cool drink. The third opens out to a cottage garden area which provides a delightful spot to enjoy that morning cuppa. A central courtyard is as pretty as a picture, with flowering pots, gardens, a vine laden gazebo, an outdoor setting and quaint decorative features.

And then there's the stunning farmhouse kitchen and dining area. This room needs to be visited several times to take in all the special touches, memorabilia, period pieces and more. A fabulous old Crown wood stove catches the eye immediately, and then a wall full of farming implements and curios, stylishly set dining tables, a welcoming fireplace - the list goes on.

Each morning continental or full English breakfasts are served here and they are both unbelievably generous servings. The challenge is to find the plate beneath the many components of the full English breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans, hash browns and toast).  Forget about lunch because this breakfast would set even the biggest eater up for the day. The continental breakfast consists of eggs, toast, raisin bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit and croissants, beautifully presented. Tea, coffee, juice and cereal are also included in breakfasts.

If by some miracle guests find themselves looking for something to enjoy with a mid morning tea or coffee, Danny and Christina thoughtfully leave "a little something" on the cake stand in the kitchen.

Reppels is within walking distance of everything in the township so it's a short stroll for dinner at the Commercial Hotel (only open on Friday and Saturday nights) or the Railway Hotel. Both offer good meals at reasonable prices. The Blue Cow Hotel is also close by and a great spot to meet the locals. Local cafes and shops are nearby, so the car can be parked at Reppels B&B and left there unless sightseeing in the region is on the agenda. Each suite here has its own private entrance, so there's no need to worry about disturbing other guests or the hosts when returning from an evening out and privacy for everyone is ensured.

A little bit of history: Henry Reppel emigrated from Germany to Queensland in 1862.  He found work as a shepherd on Goomburra Station and then moved to Allora in 1884, when he opened a baker's shop.  It's thought that roughly two or three years later he opened the neighbouring Temperance Boarding House - now Reppels B&B.

Why not check out this unique destination?

So, treat yourself to a country escape, discover the "Best Little Town on the Downs" and enjoy true country hospitality and luxury accommodation at Reppels Historical B&B.

Need to know - Danny and Christina have made a conscious decision not to provide televisions or WIFI access in the suites, in the hope that guests will "switch off", relax and enjoy the slower pace of this country retreat.  There is, however, a flat screen TV in the kitchen for those who feel the need to hit the "ON switch".

Things to see and do during your stay:

Enjoy Allora's Heritage Walk which showcases significant buildings and sites in the township, including the Mary Poppins House. Pull up a stool at the quaint Blue Cow Hotel and meet the friendly locals over a cool ale.
Take a 20 minute drive to the Rose and Rodeo City (Warwick), call in to the Tourist Information Centre and enjoy all that this city has to offer. A little further afield (approx 45 mins) is Toowoomba where staff at the Information Centre will offer advice on sightseeing options.

Other destinations to explore in this region include Killarney, the Spring Creek Mountain Cafe and nearby Carr's Lookout which boasts the most amazing views!  If travelling in a high clearance 4WD vehicle, the Cambanoora Gorge drive is beautiful and when there's water over the 14 Condamine River crossings, it's a lot of fun. The Goomburra section of Main Range National Park offers the opportunity to enjoy spectacular walks and spot local wildlife.

Perhaps the most appealing option to many visitors will be the temptation to stay put and enjoy the peaceful and friendly vibe of the "Best Little Town on the Downs".
