Reflections - A Reflection of Brisbane's Waterways
BCC Indigenous Art Program
The 2023 Indigenous Art Program: Reflections- A Reflection of Brisbane's Waterways is transforming Brisbane's local streets and laneways into a stunning art exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander works from June 19 to October 2, 2023.

Part of Brisbane City Council's Outdoor Gallery program, the exhibition is spread across various locations from The City to South Brisbane and will feature works by 10 artists including including curator Dean Tyson and Luke Mallie.

This year’s program, Reflections – A Reflection of Brisbane’s Waterways, explores the beauty and significance of the Brisbane River with its complex creeks, tributaries and ancestral traditions, highlighting the River's importance as a source of sustenance, security, social network and cultural heritage.

A cornerstone of Council's Outdoor Gallery program, the annual Indigenous Art Program features everything from large scale banners to vitrine installations and night-time projections.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the Council initiative has previously showcased some of the most recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists with this year’s, exhibition celebrating some exciting emerging and established artists who responded to a community call out to share their stories.

The exhibition also offers a range of events and activities, including walking tours, artists talks, workshops and some guided virtual reality experiences that will take audiences on tours of Brisbane prior to First Settlement.
