Redlands Bluegrass Festival

Redland Bay

Family friendly Redlands Bluegrass Festival takes over the bay with a swag of bluegrass and country music concerts, workshops and shows for its 20th year this weekend.

Starting with a Friday night concert, the festival carries through with instrumental and vocal workshops on Saturday and Sunday mornings, live shows in the afternoons and a special performance on Saturday afternoon by ‘The Pigs’ from Victoria before the main stage concert kicks off on Saturday night.

Redlands Bluegrass Festival

The Saturday night concert, which features 2012 Australian Country Music Award Winners The Davidson Brothers and Australia’s longest performing bluegrass band Bluegrass Parkway, is the mainstay of the festival there’s a lot more to get involved with.

Between 9-11.30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings friends and family can get together and learn to play a bluegrass instrument – think banjo, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, bass and guitar- at a bunch of vocal and instrumental workshops run by some of the performers. Or in between shows take a bushwalk and get back to nature as the festival site is in the midst of some exclusive scenic bushlands.

On Sunday afternoon there’s a special live performance by funky bluegrass roots band Round Mountain Girls at 3pm and before that at 2.30pm a line up of artists take over the Fireplace Room for the Fireplace Concert.
