The Monkey Bar Cafe

THE MONKEY BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

It doesn't get any more child-friendly than The Monkey Bar Café in Greenslopes, popular with parents due to its proximity to a playground, providing all-day breakfast and lunch including a menu for little monkeys.

Located at the Annerley Junior Football Club and Community Centre, this child friendly/dog friendly al fresco cafe overlooks a pint-sized playground and football field. Mums and dads can enjoy a well-earned, well-brewed Genovese coffee and top-notch meal while the kids play nearby.  

Breakfast fare ranges from salted caramel and buttermilk pancakes with fresh bananas, naughty whiskey maple syrup, hazelnut dust and Nutella cream to Monkey Twist Eggs Benny (free-range poached eggs, choice of bacon, smoked salmon or haloumi, grilled asparagus and homemade hollandaise sauce on buttery brioche bun) and Botanic Mushroom Bruschetta - a trio of grilled mushrooms, zucchini, fennel carpaccio, buffalo mozzarella, rocket pesto and truffle oil on sourdough.  

Lunch options include a wagyu beef burger with tomatillo salsa, tasty cheese and aioli on a toasted Turkish bun served with shoestring fries, the classic O'ranga Sanga with roast chicken, semi-dried tomato, avo and aioli on multi-grain and gourmet jaffles with fillings like savoury mince and tasty cheese or grilled mushrooms, pesto and feta.

The Little Monkey menu consists of cheeky cheese jaffles and chimpy chips for lunch and McMonkey Muffins (bacon, egg and cheese on English muffin) and mini stacks of buttermilk pancakes for breaky.   

Besides coffee, there's milkshakes in yummy flavours like Belgian chocolate, strawberries and cream or vanilla bean, and smoothies - mango, mixed berry, banana and groovy green. Or BYO beer, cider or wine to enjoy on a balmy day beneath the shade sail (meals must be purchased with BYO).
