The Little Mermaid

Playhouse Qpac

Ballet Theatre of Queensland’s take on Hans Christian Anderson’s enduring tale, The Little Mermaid, will delight Brisbane audiences when it's performed at the Playhouse, QPAC from January 17-20.

The premier youth ballet company in the state, Ballet Theatre of Queensland was established in 1937 to provide performance opportunities for talented young dancers. Focusing on family-friendly productions, The Little Mermaid fits the bill perfectly with the popular story about the little mermaid who is desperate to discover life above the sea, and makes a choice on her 15th birthday to strike a deal with the wicked Sea Witch to change her life.

The ballet, with stunning choreography by Timothy Brown, is set in a magical underwater world, and has enchanting sets by Rozina Suliman and Bill Haycock, costume design by Carmel Wenck, and lighting by Wesley Bluff.

Whether you’re young or simply young at heart, don’t miss the opportunity to see some of Queensland’s finest young dancers in this powerful story of love, loss and discovery.
