Easter Vintage Festival

Highfields

The Easter Vintage Festival is a splendid 3 day old-fashioned affair for all ages, held in the Highfields Pioneer Village.

Set on a picturesque 20 acres, the Pioneer Village, a working museum, contains more than 60 buildings of historic significance.

The Easter Vintage Festival

The festival, which is run entirely by volunteers, offers a rare opportunity to turn back the clock to the 19th century and experience rural life in Australia as it was in the pioneer days.

The Easter Vintage Festival

Festival goers can participate in a host of fun hands-on activities from a bygone era, such as blacksmithing, whip cracking and milking a cow by hand, while a daily program of demonstrations includes camp oven cooking and damper making.

The Easter Vintage Festival

A not-to-be-missed highlight is the Grand Parade, held each day at 1.30pm, and featuring Vintage Tractors, Cars and Trucks, with Easter Monday’s parade featuring Military Vehicles too.

And for children, a must-visit is the Animal Nursery, full of baby animals of the furry, feathered, 4 and 2-legged kind. Junior animal lovers also have the opportunity to get hands-on by signing up to be a festival Volunteer and assist with grooming, petting and feeding the animals.

Food-wise, there’s plenty of options, with Billy Tea and Damper or Stew cooked in the Camp Ovens, meat pies from the old Pie Ute and Steak & Sausages from the Easter BBQ*, otherwise pick up a gluten-free salad from the Servery or an ice-cream from the Village Marketplace.

*Proceeds from the BBQ are donated to support the Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal.
