The Crosstown Eating House
Woolloongabba
CROSSTOWN EATING HOUSE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED AND REPLACED BY ELECTRIC AVENUE.
Kitted out with industrial décor - a pressed metal bar front, raw floorboards and funnel light fittings - and with added warmth from oil paintings, oak panelling and lofty windows, this little gastro pub eatery is an enduring pioneer of the ‘Gabba’s antique quarter.
And it’s the perfect drop-in for a light meal or drink when the urge for either strikes. Gin-marinated olives, kirin on tap, and dishes such as truffled sausage and polenta or spatchcock cacciatore are some of the offerings (ideal for sharing). The latter hover around the $25 to $30 mark whilst vegetarian plates such as asparagus and duck egg or anchovy roast garlic and toast are around the $15 to $20 mark.
Worth noting: Servings are not large, but here it's about quality not quantity. Although it is open till 11pm the kitchen closes for orders at 9.30pm.
