Kooza

Cirque du Soleil will again thrill Brisbane audiences with its latest show, KOOZA, making Christmas holidays very special at Skygate Brisbane Airport from 24 November – 8 January.

With its reputation for mind-blowing acrobatics, amazing costumes, stirring music and elaborate set design within the blue and yellow Grand Chapiteau, KOOZA has already sold so many tickets that extra matinee sessions have been added for 15, 21 and 28 December.

The show’s writer and director, David Shiner, says, “KOOZA is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad… The tone is fun and funny, light and open.”

KOOZA is also one of the most acrobatically dangerous shows from the Cirque, with the 725 kg Wheel of Death promising to be a heart-stopper when two artists literally walk on air and defy gravity, while the Teeterboard act flings artists into the air where they execute quintuple twisting somersaults.

Cirque du Soleil Kooza

The name, KOOZA, is inspired by the Sanskrit word ‘koza’, meaning ‘box’, ‘chest’ or ‘treasure’, with one of the underlying concepts of the show being a ‘circus in a box’. . The set revolves around a dramatic looking travelling tower called The Bataclan.

And let’s not forget the gorgeous costumes designed by Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt. With the look being described as “Alice in Wonderland meets Baron Munchausen meets Wizard of Oz”, they’ve been inspired by the painter Klimt, the Mad Max movies, time travel movies to India and Eastern Europe, clocks, tin soldiers and more. Characters in the show include The Trickster, The Innocent, The King, Clowns, and The Mad Dog. Live music includes jazz, funk and Bollywood beats.

Nice to know - You can make your Cirque du Soleil KOOZA visit even more special with the VIP Rouge package which gives you the best seats and access to the intimate VIP suite one hour before the show and at intermission. There will be top quality wines and hors d’oeuvres as well as souvenirs.
