Casa Di Louie Ristorante
Wynnum
CASA DI LOUIE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Casa di Louie Ristorante is a little slice of Italy found on Wynnum's Bay Terrace dishing up authentic Italian fare with an on-site deli, cooking school and function room able to cater for 100.
Paying homage to his homeland, Italian-born chef and owner Louie has created a casual, modern dining space including a mural of Venice and a Sistine Chapel inspired private dining nook.
The Italian Mediterranean menu changes weekly dependent upon season and availability of fresh produce. Open for lunch and dinner six days a week, starters range from pan-seared mixed olives served with warm, fresh bread and antipasto platters with cured Italian meats, house-made marinated vegetables and Italian cheese to parmesan baskets with lightly battered sweet potato, onion and zucchini and baby calamari served with homemade garlic basil mayonnaise.
Mains might include oven-baked homemade cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach topped with Napoli sauce and béchamel, fresh ravioli filled with lean beef in a pancetta, onion and white wine cream or slow-cooked lamb shank in red wine, rosemary, garlic and tomato sauce served with polenta and fresh bread.
Finish with traditional tiramisu, chocolate salami served with chantilly cream and cappuccino ice-cream or bite-sized biscotti filled with apricot, raspberry or Nutella alongside a well-brewed Aroma espresso.
There's also a deli on-site selling salami, prosciutto, fresh pasta and artisan chocolates. Cooking classes are held once a month on a Sunday with chef Louie; while other special events - Gangster Nights and Dining in the Dark (in support of Vision Australia) - are held throughout the year. Follow Casa di Louie on Facebook for dates and details.
