Brisbane Comedy Festival 2024
Brisbane Comedy Festival is back with a stellar line-up of festival favourites and fresh new faces, flocking to Brisbane for 5 huge weeks of laughs and live gigs, from Friday 26 April to Sunday 26 May, 2024.
More than 130 comedians will descend on Brisbane, with over 300 hilarious events happening across 4 iconic venues: Brisbane Powerhouse, The Tivoli, The Fortitude Music Hall and The Princess Theatre.
International headliners include British comedy master Stephen K Amos, Irish comedian Ed Byrne, New Zealander Guy Montgomery, South African comic Schalk Bezuidenhout, Britain’s Sh!t-faced Shakespeare and more.
Australia’s favourite comedy export and curator of the first ever Brisbane Comedy Festival, Josh Thomas, returns to Brisbane for the first time since 2013, and Australia’s Crown Prince of comedy Joel Creasey is back with a brand new stand-up show.
Award-winning newcomer He Huang will take audiences on a hilarious global journey, Sydney-based comedian Daniel Muggleton brings his bracing social commentary to town, and Brisbane-bred Ben Hunter's enthralling awkwardness and off-kilter musings have made him a rising star of Australian comedy.
Festival favourites returning to Brisbane Powerhouse are Frocking Hilarious, Queerstories, and Aboriginal Comedy All Stars, along with hilarious new shows including Are You Pulling My Leg?, showcasing some of Australia's funniest comedians with disability or chronic illness.
Making lemonade out of life's lemons is Alexandra Hudson, whose debut show explores her experiences as a disabled woman and how she uses the misconceptions society has about her to flip it back on them.
Another female force to be reckoned with is Chris Ryan. Chris’s stand-up is based on her life and the people in it, making it real and relatable, delivered in her signature understated, laconic style. If you’re looking for a song and dance, you’re not getting it.
And Effie, the Logie Award-winning former hairdresser and Greek Goddess, is back with a brand new stand-up, UPYOURSELFNESS.
Following the Festival's most successful year in 2023, festival-goers can expect a bigger and more diverse program than ever, offering more than just stand-up - including a free exhibition by Sam Kissajurian, Theatre (44 Sex Acts in One Week), Magic (Tahir), Science (Future Science Talks), and an award-winning Whodunnit (Murder Village).
