2020 Archibald Prize Tour

Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre

Don't miss the 2020 Archibald Prize now on tour at Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre in the beautiful Tweed Valley.

Awarded annually to the best portrait painting of a notable Australian, the Archibald Prize is a who's who of Australian culture - from politicians and celebrities to sports stars and artists.

First awarded in 1921, the Archibald Prize is Australia's most prestigious (and controversial) portraiture prize, and is eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike.

Now on tour from the Art Gallery of New South Wales, visitors to Tweed Regional Gallery & Margart Olley Art Centre in South Murwillumbah will be the first to see finalists and prize winners on the 2020 Archibald Prize regional tour.

Visit the exhibition to vote for your favourite portrait in the ANZ People’s Choice award before voting closes on February 21 and view the work of budding artists aged 5-18 years in the Young Archie, on display in the Gallery Foyer.

For families, there are also children’s labels, a children’s trail and an activity sheet with ideas for creating your own portraits at home.
