Supergirly
Gardens Theatre
Self-crowned ‘pop princess’, SuperGirly, takes the mickey out of all those other real life self-obsessed pop princesses in SuperGirly: Return of the Pop Princess by Lulu McClatchy.
The problem for SuperGirly is that she’s no longer the A-list celeb she once was, but she’s in major denial about that, including the fact that although she claims she’s got Hollywood hunk, Bradley Cooper, on her arm, it’s probably an unemployed actor she’s paid to pretend.
TV comedy actor, Lulu McClatchy, who’s graced the screen in Bogan Pride and Neighbours, has already had sold-out seasons of SuperGirly in London’s West End and Edinburgh. She supported Elton John in 2002 and has also had her own BBC sitcom, making it a no-brainer that this show will certainly be worth the ticket price for belly-bursting laughs. Along for the ride playing Bradley Cooper is Lyall Brooks (Winners and Losers, The Dr. Blake Mysteries).
McClatchy’s take on pop divas like Katy Perry, Madonna, Lady Gaga and of course Miley Cyrus, has got the critics raving about her cutting-edge humour and outrageous lyrics, with Weekend Notes Melbourne saying, “It’s a big call but this could be the funniest live show I have ever seen!” Spice Girls’ Mel C no less has said, “I wish we could sing your lyrics instead of ours!” Need anything more be said?
