Soja W. Blue King Brown
The Triffid
Reggae fans are in for the night of their lives with the pairing of Washington DC outfit, SOJA, along with Australia’s premier urban roots and reggae proponents, Blue King Brown. Those north of the border don’t have to venture to the Byron Bay Bluesfest to get their fill of the artists on offer because these guys are appearing on Saturday, 4 April at rocking Newstead venue, The Triffid, set up by former Powderfinger bassist, John Collins.
Natalie Rize of Blue King Brown is pumped for the partnership, saying, “It’s not every night that we are able to get two bands from across the planet together to share in an evening of word, sound and power and it’s an integral time to be uniting in such a way… We’re all in for a very special night and experience!”
SOJA’s live show, which offers a blend of reggae, rock, hip-hop, Latin and D.C. hardcore is described as being an explosion of energy and positivity, and their fifth studio album, Amid the Noise and Haste, was nominated for a Grammy Award.
No slouches in the awards category either, Blue King Brown have an Aria nomination under their belts for their combo of roots, rock and afro groove mash-up built on a driving percussive foundation and with powerful vocals. Their new release, Born Free, is receiving critical acclaim worldwide. Better book now as this one is sure to be a popular one for reggae fans.
