New World, Old Friends
Brisbane City Hall
Brisbane Symphony Orchestra will perform two of the greatest pieces of classical music from the 19th century, Dvorak’s Symphony No 9, From the New World, and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No 2, at Brisbane City Hall on Sunday, March 10.
Antonin Dvorak, owed his international career to Johannes Brahms, who encouraged and supported the young Czech composer. Brisbane Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of 2019 - New World, Old Friends - celebrates this unique friendship.
The orchestra will perform Brahms Piano Concerto No 2 with acclaimed Australian pianist Daniel de Borah, along with the world’s most popular symphony, Dvorak’s From the New World.
Brahms' Piano Concerto is a powerful work, with 4 movements instead of the usual 3, and is almost an hour long. Soloist Daniel de Borah, with his attention to detail and technical brilliance, will bring Brahms' concerto to vivid life in this unmissable classical concert.
