Liberating Art Exhibition

La51 Art Gallery

Get set for a month of nudity at Paddington’s LA51 Art Gallery, with life drawing classes, a nude auction and special meet the artist evenings at the Liberating Art Exhibition.

The premise of the exhibition can be summed up in the famous quote – “To know the difference between erotica and pornography you must first know the difference between naked and nude”.

Liberating Art Exhibition LA 51 Art Gallery

The opening event on the evening of August 23 will see the works of 3 artists unveiled, including LA 51 Director Belinda Lowndes, who has this to say about her art: ‘Some people are fascinated by the mind, its potential and power to arouse, I am fascinated by the human form in the same way. My goal, objective, passion is to create a timeless art piece that depicts a moment in time when a woman was in her own mind, in a private room the door closed, totally relaxed and at ease with her body.’

Robbie Erskin, conductor of the Nude Drawing Sessions has a different style: ‘My work has always had a leaning towards realism and developing techniques in oil paint has helped me achieve the effects I want to show in my art. I love the work of the Old Masters especially Caravaggio and Vermeer and have studied their methods to bring my artwork creation to a higher level.’
