Marathon is a fascinating contemporary art exhibition by renowned Australian artist Geoff Todd. Now showing at Mitchell Fine Art Gallery, Marathon explores life’s hardships, challenges, successes and failures.
With his recognisable figurative style, Todd presents the positive with the pain. “This is an exhibition about life and its struggles. It’s about running the gauntlet, running to win or even just running to participate”.
An artist who paints a dramatic personal perspective, this series of paintings centre around his intimate and personal connections with two young female muses, besieged with the contest of life; from different backgrounds yet sharing remarkable similarities in the successes and failures they have endured.
Culminating 30 years of artistic observation, this exhibition presents powerful, poignant and sometimes aggressive artworks.
Nice to know - The artist will be in attendance on opening night from 6-8pm on Friday, July 27 and will also hold an artist talk in the gallery at 2pm on Saturday, July 28.
