David Hinchliffe Exhibition
Red Hill Gallery
Leaving politics to pursue a full-time art career has paid off for Brisbane-born David Hinchliffe, with his new exhibition at Red Hill Gallery from 5 – 21 August.
A long-serving Councillor in Brisbane, including a stint as Deputy Mayor, Hinchliffe was also constantly keeping his passion for art alive and finally took it on full-time after giving politics away in 2011. Luckily for the art world, he did, as he’s now got sell-out exhibitions in New York, London, Paris and back home to his credit.
Hinchliffe’s latest solo exhibition features cityscapes in his exquisite impressionistic style, with people stepping out in rainy streets, the romance of Paris, the busy urban landscape of New York, and several iconic Brisbane settings such as St Brigid’s Cathedral in Red Hill.
Says Hinchliffe, “I have so many images in my head; I sometimes think the hardest part of my day in the studio is not the actual painting but deciding WHAT to paint. Which city will it be today?”
Don’t miss this multi award-winning artist’s exhibition which follows many successful shows of his work from all over the world. “We are thrilled to show the people of his hometown, the incredible interpretations and atmospheric qualities that he manages to imbue in his canvases, says Red Hill Gallery’s Director, Margaret Campbell-Ryder.
Need to know: Sales commence prior to opening.
