Dino Zoo
The Cube Qut
Dino Zoo, a first for Brisbane, gives visitors the unique chance to interact with life-size digital dinosaurs at QUT’s The Cube.
Taking up residence in the zoo behind the glass are five Australian and five international species of dinosaurs, some of which will move in herds, some solo and some that will hunt in packs and visitors will be able to get immersed and interact with them.
Curator of Geosciences at the Queensland Museum, Dr Scott Hocknull, has been a major collaborator in the making of this unique 3D animation, which has dinosaurs portrayed with a degree of scientific accuracy that is a world first.
One of the stars of the pack will be Banjo, the home grown Australovenator Wintonensis which was discovered in Winton and who has been ten years in the recreating from dig to digital by Dr Hocknull.
Along with the chance to interact with the lifelike dinosaurs, there’s also a range of fun activities on touch screens, video games, dinosaur craft to get involved with, documentaries screened and behind-the-scenes insights revealed.
