The Lab Bar + Restaurant is Brisbane CBD’s best kept breakfast secret – a place to enjoy a refined breakfast in elegant old world surrounds.

A century old high-ceilinged room with ornate wood panelled bar, grand arched or sash windows, fireplaces and starched white table cloths sets the scene for a breakfast experience that is out of the ordinary, perfect for a special occasion or a change from the everyday.

Diners can choose from a la carte hot dishes, a continental buffet or a ‘hot buffet’, which is a combination of the continental buffet and choice of one hot dish, ordered separately and served freshly cooked. Being part of the Treasury Hotel establishment, the breakfast buffet is served daily, but this is no standard hotel offering.

Much of the food is presented ready plated (daily yoghurt in glasses arranged around a platter of fresh fruit, and individual serves of Bircher Muesli and Layered Yoghurt), fruit salad comes freshly cut in a wooden bowl and the delicious house-baked croissants, friands and Danishes under bell jars at the counter. There’s 4 choices of cereal and of self-toasting bread, including sour dough, as well as a range of preserves and condiments. The buffet also includes a glass of juice and cup of excellent Vittoria espresso or tea.

Those who don’t wish to partake in a buffet can order one of 4 hot dishes a la carte – Eggs Benedict (2 free range eggs, ham or smoked salmon, spinach, toasted Turkish, hollandaise sauce and potato rosti), Omelette with choice of 4 fillings (mushroom, onion, tomato, bacon, feta, spinach, salmon), Pancakes (buttermilk pancakes with cinnamon ricotta, vanilla ice-cream and spiced berry compote) or Full Breakfast – 2 eggs done any way with bacon, pork sausage, spinach, mushroom, tomato and potato rosti. These are the same 4 dishes that can be ordered as part of the Hot Buffet.

In a nutshell – Breakfast at Lab Bar + Restaurant is an elegant affair, a perfect start to a day out in the city, a date or to mark a special occasion.

Need to know – Parking is available underground onsite. Lab Bar + Restaurant is also open for high tea on weekends and for dinner from 6pm 6 nights a week.
