360 Allstars
Brisbane Powerhouse
Radical urban-circus comes to the Brisbane Powerhouse for the 360 Allstars show. It’s going to be an all-out action experience, with BMX flatlanding, basketball freestyling, breakdancing, beatboxing, drumming and Roue Cyr (an acrobatic wheel). Artists and champion athletes from Australia, U.K., Europe, America and New Zealand will thrill audiences with their combined talents, so it’d be wise to get your tickets ASAP for the shows on 20-22 February.
Gene Peterson, the organiser and multi-award winning percussionist and composer, didn’t want to set any limits on the show, saying, “I just wanted to make something really awesome! And that was literally my selection criteria for the art forms… how many different types of awesome could we put on one stage?”
360 Allstars seeks to reinvent traditional circus, replacing acrobats with breakdancers, jugglers with basketball freestylers, and a unicyclist with a BMX flatlander. Peterson says that the show was conceived in response to smaller, similar shows so his idea was to go large and give ‘em more of what they want.
Performers include Hungarian Peter Sore, two-time World Champion BMX flatlander and Roue Cyr artist; U.S. World Champion breakdancer, B-Boy Kareem, known for his power moves and previous work with Cirque du Soleil; and another World Champ breakdancer, B-Boy Leerok from New Zealand.
There’s also U.S. basketball freestyler, Rashaun Daniels, and Australian Roue Cyr artist, Rhys Miller, while musical talents are Triple J favourite, vocal wizard Sam Perry from the U.K. and Gene Peterson himself.
